In 2026, the east side of Pompano Beach, toward the water, got one new restaurant on the Intracoastal and one event venue that is still under construction. Federal Highway got a diner, an all-day breakfast-and-tapas bar, a Cuban bakery on the way, a pizzeria waiting to open and two off-price stores. If you want to know where this year's new breakfast, coffee or Saturday errand is, check US 1 before A1A.
Here's the beach side for comparison. Lola's on the Water opened this spring at Sands Harbor Resort & Marina, 125 N. Riverside Drive, and Pompano Beach Insider reported it open by May 3. Sea Glass Venue is going up at 116 N. Ocean Boulevard near the pier. It's a wedding and private-event space taking bookings for 2026 and 2027, and as of October 1 no opening date had been announced. Most of this year's other new places are on the highway. Here they are from north to south.
The north end: a 28,000-square-foot store and a breakfast bar at the causeway
The biggest opening of the fall is at the top of the corridor. Nordstrom Rack's 28,000-square-foot store at Pompano Citi Centre, 1440 NE 23rd Street, was set to open Thursday, September 17, according to Pompano Beach Insider. It carries off-price apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty products and home goods.
Head south toward the 14th Street Causeway and you reach Prescott's Pompano Beach, at 1308 N. Federal Highway, "right where US 1 meets the 14th Street Causeway," in Pompano Beach Insider's description. The format is simple. Breakfast comes first: the Big Breakfast, avocado toast, a lox bagel and three-egg omelets. At noon the kitchen switches to tapas such as ceviche, coconut shrimp, wings, mini smash burgers, French onion soup and fish and chips. Happy hour runs all day instead of starting at four. The same article says the owner, Prescott, is usually on the floor and regulars already know his dog, Bacon. The August coverage listed hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Those numbers are two months old, so check before you plan a weekday breakfast there.
About a block and a half south, Vicky Bakery is getting ready to open at 1154 N. Federal Highway. It will serve Cuban pastries, breads, all-day breakfast and sandwiches, with indoor seating and takeout. Franchisee Yamile Hernandez told Business Debut she is aiming to open by the end of November. Pompano Beach Insider's October 6 roundup listed the shop as "Baking Soon" and said no opening date had been announced, so treat late November as the owner's goal, not a confirmed date.
Once Vicky opens, this short stretch of North Federal will have a full-menu breakfast bar and a Cuban bakery within walking distance of each other.
14 N. Federal: the diner that settles the breakfast question
Grub, a Finer Diner, sits almost at the center of the corridor at 14 N. Federal Highway. Owner George Abbondante designed it as an upscale spinoff of his Hen and the Hog brunch restaurants. Before it opened, he described the menu to the Sun Sentinel as "real-deal comfort food with Southern soul."
The opening date moved once. The Sun Sentinel's fall preview listed October 1. Pompano Beach Insider then reported an October 7 opening with breakfast served all day. Coverage of the launch menu named these dishes:
- Brown-butter cast-iron pancake
- Japanese cinnamon-milk-bread French toast
- Chicken and waffles
- Shrimp and grits
- Meats smoked in-house
- A coffee-and-tea bar and signature milkshakes
Opening-week coverage and the restaurant's own site disagree on hours. Pompano Beach Insider's October 2 article said 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Right now GrubDiner.com lists 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day and has online ordering for pickup and delivery. The Sun Sentinel's preview included dinner dishes such as bacon-onion fondue burgers and country-fried steak. Under the posted hours, though, the kitchen closes mid-afternoon for now. Plan on Grub for breakfast and lunch, and watch the site to see whether evening service is added.
South of Atlantic: one store open, one pizzeria waiting
Burlington opened at 1131 S. Federal Highway on August 14, with a grand-opening event August 14 and 15, according to WhatNow. With Nordstrom Rack scheduled to open at the north end five weeks later, the corridor ends up with an off-price retailer at each end.
The NY Pizza Place is the stop still in waiting. In February, WhatNow reported that the chain planned a Pompano location at 330 S. Federal Highway and expected it to open in about two months. That estimate has passed. The operator's site still calls the Pompano and Deerfield Beach locations "opening soon," and its open stores remain in Tamarac, Coral Springs and Boca Raton.

Why the drive down US 1 felt longer this year, and when that ends
These openings arrived on a road that has carried more than its usual traffic since spring. The City of Pompano Beach closed the McNab Road bridge on April 13, 2026, and has sent through traffic around it via Federal Highway and Cypress Creek Road, while keeping local and transit access open. The bridge was built in 1959, and the city has classified it as functionally obsolete. Replacing it is a priority of the voter-approved 2018 "G.O. Pompano!" bond program.
The city's September 16 project update says rain during the wet season pushed the bridge reopening to November 1, 2026, provided the weather cooperates. The full McNab Road Streetscape and Bridge Replacement project, which runs from South Cypress Road to Federal Highway, is still scheduled to finish in December 2026. When it's done, that stretch of McNab will have ADA-compliant sidewalks and ramps, new pedestrian and bicycle facilities, better lighting, upgraded drainage and improved bus stops and shelters.
The timing works out for the south end of the corridor. If the bridge reopens on schedule, the detour ends around the time Vicky Bakery is aiming to open. Federal Highway goes back to normal traffic levels, and McNab becomes a finished east-west route that meets it.
Atlantic Boulevard is filling in next
The next group of openings is on the east-west road that crosses Federal. Phở Bar Vietnamese Kitchen is building out at 2515 E. Atlantic Boulevard, just east of the highway. Pompano Beach Insider reported on October 11 that no opening date has been announced, and the restaurant's locations page still says "Coming Soon" for Pompano.
Farther east, at 3428 E. Atlantic Boulevard, RimLay Seafood is set to bring a full-service, Thai-influenced seafood boil with indoor and outdoor seating. Owner Tammy Boonlong told Business Debut the restaurant will open after Thanksgiving, no later than December 1.
If both open on time, the area where Federal Highway and Atlantic Boulevard meet will have added a diner, a bakery, a pho shop and a seafood boil in one year. For a beach day, there's also the free Fishing Village shuttle that started October 2 to help with beach parking.
At Red Pin Realty, we watch Pompano Beach one address at a time, from a new bakery on North Federal to a bridge reopening on McNab. Whether you're thinking about the home that sits a few blocks from this stretch or the rental two streets away, call or email Sabrina and the team to schedule a free market consultation.
